Pioneering Science-Based Climate Targets in Indonesia’s Real Estate Sector

PT Pakuwon Jati Tbk, one of Indonesia’s leading property developers, sought to align its operations with global climate goals by validating its near-term emission reduction targets through the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The challenge involved decarbonizing both operational and value chain emissions within the complex building sector while ensuring alignment with internationally recognized methodologies. In parallel, Pakuwon aimed to improve its climate transparency and performance through CDP Climate Disclosure, where it previously received a D score.

APP Group, one of the world’s largest pulp and paper producers and a subsidiary of a leading Indonesian conglomerate, needed to align with the most ambitious climate targets under the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The challenge included ensuring compliance across both forestry and mill operations, covering complex FLAG and non-FLAG activities.
