Strengthening Science-Based Climate Action in Global Manufacturing Supply Chains

PT Glostar Indonesia, a key manufacturing partner within global supply chains, sought to strengthen its climate commitments and align with international standards. The main challenge involved establishing a robust and reliable GHG emissions baseline across entities, while ensuring alignment with the GHG Protocol and the requirements of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Additionally, limited visibility on emissions hotspots and the absence of a structured decarbonization pathway posed challenges in setting credible and science-based targets.

Solution

Bestari supported Glostar by enhancing its GHG emissions inventory across their entities, ensuring methodological alignment with GHG Protocol and SBTi requirements. The work included identifying key emissions hotspots, improving data quality and consolidation processes, and developing a structured decarbonization roadmap. Bestari also provided technical support throughout the SBTi target-setting and validation process, ensuring that proposed targets were credible and compliant with international standards.

Result

In September 2025, PT Glostar Indonesia successfully obtained SBTi approval for its near-term emissions reduction targets. This milestone reflects the company’s strengthened GHG accounting system, improved emissions transparency, and clear decarbonization pathway. It also reinforces Glostar’s position as a responsible and sustainable partner within global supply chains.
